Last weekend was the end of kitty season and now I'm on the count down for next. The pups put up 44 cats with Dangit putting up 22 , Huckleberry 16, Hades 3 ,Sherlock 2, Babe 1. They had 3 shortails that escaped, and 2 lions. They had a very good year and it's fun to watch them. The last weekend a guy from Oregon came over to breed his Drahthaar female to Huckleberry. She has been running shortail in Oregon and he's been wanting to do this cross for some time. His female was a pleasure to be around, very friendly and very obedient. I think the pups will be some dandies. While the couple were getting friendly me and him took the other pups out and roaded them hoping they'd take off on a cat, but with no success. He did happen to spot two horns while driving one bull elk horn in the middle of the road. Anyways it was a fun season and seems short but now work season is in full swing.
Thanks for sharing all the stories and pictures buddy, really enjoyed reading them. It’s interesting to hear of your friends wirehair X leopard, I also hunt the wirehaired and back in Europe I hunted wild boar with my female, she was a bit of a fur puller and got nailed a lot but stayed alive somehow, she loved them more than anything. But she was also a good bird dog and any small game, and waterfowl. So loyal, and we are on the same page in the woods so I don’t ever say a word, just the odd nod of the head, or a pointed finger to say “go that way”. Cool dogs. I bred her to the best pure wirehair dog I could find in the uk before I moved, really happy with the pup so far, well started on small game. I’ll give her a go at bobcat with the leopards next winter.
